Nestled within the beautiful mountains of Colombia, Medellín is a city that embodies the idea of paradise. Known as the “City of Eternal Spring,” Medellín has year-round warmth, lush greenery, and a vibrant atmosphere that captivates everyone who visits. It’s a place where music fills the air, and whether you’re walking through a park, sitting in a barbershop, or having a beer on the corner, you’ll hear the unmistakable sound of Bachata. This city is a Bachata lover’s dream, and it’s no surprise that Medellín is emerging as a new Bachata capital of the world.

When I arrived in 2018, Medellín’s dance scene was in its early stages, especially for Bachata.
There were a few socials here and there, mostly Rumba Crossovers ( mix of Salsa, Cumbia, Merengue, Bachata and Vallenato), but the potential was undeniable. Dance has always been part of the culture here, and we helped spark a transformation with the introduction of Majao Socials. From our first event outdoors in the park, the dance community has exploded. Now, there are Bachata socials almost every day, with some of the larger events drawing over 400 dancers on a single Saturday night.
A key part of Medellín’s dance growth has been the rise of local talent, with groups like Talenttus from the barrios helping elevate the level of dance. But it's not just local talent—Medellín has become a hub for dancers from all over the world. A constant stream of travelers, from professionals to passionate amateurs, visit the city, seeking the perfect combination of dancing and culture. This mix of local talent and global influence is what makes Medellín truly special. The growing social scene, combined with the influx of experienced dancers from abroad, is ensuring the city's community grows at an unprecedented rate.
